Don't miss the article from The Edmond's Beacon Newspaper 10/17/02 telling about Rita's exciting Missions Trip To Ethiopia.
This article, published in the Winston-Salem Journal on September 29, 2001 in anticipation of Rita's visit, was subheaded "Speaker coming to St. Paul's believes she overlooked warnings of terrorist attacks".

"Prayer as a Path to Healing" (PDF)

Read Rita's inspirational article, published in the Edmonds Beacon, on the occasion of the February 28, 2001 earthquake in western Washington State.

Read the Washington Times article "Charismatic Movement Transcends Sects" published March 31, 2000 by clicking the link below. First, a commentary on the article by Rita Bennett, Dennis' widow:

"Though there were good statements in the article, I find it important to make two corrections.

The first paragraph says that Dennis Bennett announced from his pulpit on April 3, 1960 that he had "recently learned how to speak in tongues." This Dennis would never say of his experience. First of all, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit is not an intellectual exercise coming from the soul or the mind; one does not "learn" to speak in tongues.

Of this experience Dennis says in his book, "Nine O'Clock in the Morning" page 23, "I was speaking the Holy Spirit's words, not mine, but I was speaking them because I chose to, and in the manner I chose… This language was being given me from the central place in me where God was, far beyond the realm of my emotions."

Praying or speaking in tongues does not come from a Christian's mind or emotions but rather from the human regenerated spirit which at conversion has been joined to God the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:17). Praying in tongues is praying from the holy of holies within, from God's Spirit which transcends the human mind.

The second correction to the article is one the Washington Times reporter, Julia Duin, gave me on the phone. Apparently some leaders from the Southern Baptists called her to say that Jerry Rankin is not charismatic.

With the exception of these two edits, I found the article not bad at all."

Another important magazine article about Dennis Bennett and his key role in the charismatic movement was published in The Living Church, October 1999 edition.
