About Us

Dennis and Rita Bennett formed the Christian Renewal Association in 1968 while recording a daily radio program in Los Angeles, California from their home, at that time, in Seattle, Washington. Shortly after this, it was recognized as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization which later became more active in 1981.

The Bennetts were married for twenty-five years before Dennis died in November 1991. Rita has since then been President of CRA which is located in Edmonds, 15 miles northwest of Seattle in Washington State, U.S.A.

Over 24 years, the late Canon Dennis Bennett spoke and taught in many places. The list includes many cathedrals, Southwark and Birmingham in England, Uppsala Cathedral in Sweden, and many in the US. He has been guest preacher in Stanford University Chapel, and Great St. Mary's, and Cambridge University, England.

Dennis Joseph Bennett was born in London (Ponders End), England, October 28, 1917, son of Joseph Henry Bennett, Congregational minister. At age nine Dennis came with his family to the USA, and was brought up in Campbell, California, then a small farming community in the heart of the Santa Clara Valley. Teaming up in ministry with his wife Rita in 1966, he continued to teach at some 20 to 25 seminars and conferences each year, in various parts of the nation and the world. Approximately half of these were sponsored by parishes or dioceses of the Episcopal (Anglican) Church.

Shortly after celebrating his 25th Wedding Anniversary with Rita, October 15, 1991, Dennis Bennett made his departure to receive his "Well done, good and Faithful Servant," on November 1, 1991, All Saints Day.

Important Notice

If anyone claims to be one of Dennis Bennett's sons and also an ordained Christian minister, he is probably an impersonator. Please check with me as it is probably not legitimate. Also, neither of Dennis's sons are named Dennis, or Dennis John (or Jay) Bennett, or are ordained ministers.

This website, www.emotionallyfree.org/com/net, is presently the Only Official Website for Dennis and Rita Bennett. Our non-profit organization is called Christian Renewal Association, Inc., in Washington State.

There is no Bennett Family Website and no Christian Renewal International connected with our work.

Thank you so much,

Rita Bennett (widow of the Rev. Dennis (Joseph) Bennett). July 10, 2003
